On June 27th 2006, the French political police carried out a raid on the Association for Solidarity with People, and seized documents and inventory.
During the same hours, the homes of members of the association in Paris and the suburbs and in the Brittany area were raided and many people taken into custody. We intensely condemn the stand taken by the Ministry of Internal Affairs which in the form of the French political police hurled threats with their insolent, rough and derogatory behaviour during the raids.
We are going to carry on our endeavours to defend democratic rights against the so called “defence forces” who put handcuffs on children, drew guns on visitors to the association and insulted members.
The ones that first were taken under custody were on 1st July Saturday imprisoned only one person was released. There names are Erhan Aktürk, Yetis Yalniz, Timur Ates, Yaser Inancli, Aligül Polat. They are all people whose addresses, work places and legal statuses are known. The accusations made against these people and the news that has been leaked to the press are groundless and unreal. The accusations that have been reflected to the press in a “lawless execution” manner, before legal procedures have been completed, are a sign of how just the “bourgeois justice” is.
The attacks of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, that have been carrying on for sometime, on the revolutionary-democratic-patriotic associations and people that live here and the politics that are influential in this, are well known. This incident which has been carried out specifically on the Paris Association for Solidarity with People which is a democratic institution and in general terms on the progressive migrant groups is a new dimension to the attacks to wear them done.
We the undersigned, intensely condemn the endeavours to intimidate, of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the French political police, as the representatives of the French government and formally request that those people who are in custody be immediately released. We call upon the progressive public to sign the petition attached below and send it to the addresses added.
We declare that by taking a joint and strong stand we will get an answer to the attempts of usurpation towards the Turkish migrant workers associations and people.
An end to the anti-democratic practices towards the progressive migrant associations!
Immediately release for the people that were inprisoned!
